From Journalism to Computer Science: Using Digital Games to Rethink Math Anxiety

In this video, I share my journey from studying journalism to pursuing an MPhil in Computer Science at TU Dublin, a path shaped by my growing interest in education and technology. Drawing on my research, I explore the impacts of math anxiety on children and how digital games can create supportive, playful spaces to help them rebuild their confidence with numbers. Through this script, I aimed to connect personal experience with academic inquiry, making the subject accessible while reflecting on how storytelling and technology can work together to address educational challenges.

The video was edited by me using Canva and made for the "Why Research Matters" competition in 2022 in which I was shortlisted. The competition was hosted by Research Ireland and the Union of Students in Ireland.
